KING GOODWILL ZWELITHINI KABHEKUZULU

King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu was born on the 27th July 1948 at Nongoma, Natal. He is the second born son of King Cyprian Bhekuzulu kaSolomon and his second wife, Queen Thomozile Jezangani Ndwandwe.

He was crowned as the 7th Monarch of the Zulu Nation after King Shaka KaSenzangakhona at a traditional ceremony Kwa-Nongoma in 1971, three years after the death of his father. When he was able to ascend the throne, his role was considered ceremonial as head of a quasi-independent homeland under the apartheid government.

During His reign he revived all the annual traditional rituals and customs. King Goodwill Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu, the King of the Zulu nation guided his people from the apartheid era into a modern democratic society.
